Manuel Caraveo

Manuel Caraveo, 82, of Hillsboro, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 9, 1942, in McAllen, Texas, Manuel - known lovingly as "Chuck" to family and friends - lived a full and vibrant life defined by hard work, service, faith, and deep devotion to those he loved. With his magnetic charm and warm smile, he was a true gentleman - and a bit of a ladies' man - with a heart as big as Texas and a twinkle in his eye.

Chuck wore many hats over the years: bull rider, lineman, construction worker, aircraft upholsterer, and skilled craftsman. He built homes, renovated properties, raised Rottweilers, worked cattle, and coached Little League. There was nothing he couldn't fix, build, or improve. Since 2002, he proudly served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Woodbury VFD - a testament to his lifelong commitment to helping others.

A man of faith, Chuck was a member of the Woodbury Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and spiritual strength.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beth; adult children Darrylene and her husband Robert, Darryl, Darryn and Darryk; grandchildren Nina, Justin, Arrielle, Abigail and great granddaughter Ayda Rose. He is also survived by his siblings Betty, Gloria, Lucy, Rudy, Roy and a large extended family. He was affectionately known as "Papa Bear" to Heather and Skyelar Amis, who held a special place in his heart.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas with inurnment to follow at the New Woodbury Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Chuck's memory to the Woodbury VFD, 1523 HCR 1313, Woodbury, TX 76645.
