Naomi Ruth Girard, 100, a former resident of Hillsboro, Texas, passed away peacefully in Crestview, Florida on August 23, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro, Texas, with graveside service and burial to follow at White Rock Cemetery in Ross, Texas.
Born September 6, 1925, in Penelope, Texas, Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Her family was one of the greatest joys of her life and her biggest legacy.
She married her high school sweetheart, William Christopher "Bill" Girard, in Macon, Georgia, on March 3, 1945, and together they had seven children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Girard; her parents, Melinda and Edgar Greenhill, seven sisters and one brother, her son, Steven Girard; and her great-granddaughter, Emily Hankins.
Ruth, lovingly known as "Mama Ruth," is survived by her sons, Chris Girard (Patti), Portsmouth, VA, Tim Girard, Huachuka City, AZ, Pat Girard (Cheryl) Titusville, FL, Jeff Girard (Sandra), Arlington, TX, and Ed Girard (Sue), Waco, TX; her daughter, Cindy Phillips (Greg), Crestview, FL; her grandchildren, Cyndi Hankins (Ty), Isaac Girard, Jacob Girard, Patrick Girard, William Girard, Sharyn Girard, Sheri Girard, Jonathan Girard, Nicholas Girard, Michelle Girard, James Workman (April), Julia Conley, and Melinda Pritchard (Brandon); her great-grandchildren: Drew and Taylor Hankins, Vivian and Vincent Girard, Avery, Benjamin and Amelia Ruth Workman, Olivia Conley and William Everett Pritchard. Also included in her lineage are three great-great-grandchildren; Laine, Sebastian and Payton, as well as many family members and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Ruth's memory.
