Oralia was born November 27, 1944, in Taft, Texas the daughter of Fermin and Petronilia "Petra" Garcia. As a young girl, she moved to Hillsboro with her family and attended school in Hill County. On October 6, 1962, she married Alonzo Diaz Alvarado in Hillsboro.
Oralia was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She was a great cook and loved preparing home-cooked meals for her family and many friends. She also loved gardening and tending to her beautiful rose bushes. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and fishing. She possessed unwavering faith in God and was a faithful servant and Jehovah's Witness. Oralia was affectionally known as "Meme" to her grandchildren, their friends and everyone she met. She had the kindest and most loving heart as well as a great sense of humor. She truly never met a stranger and would generously help anyone in need. She was the ultimate prayer warrior and delighted in conversations about God and the Bible. One of her favorite verses was Isaiah 41:10, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Her greatest joy and love were her daughters and her grandchildren. She attended as many of her grandchildren's school activities and sporting events as she could, including Grandparents Day luncheons. She also had a great love for animals, especially her "furry-grandbabies," Chloe, Lola and Chupy.
Preceding Oralia in death was her husband, Alonzo D. Alvarado, on April 23, 2008; her parents, Fermin and Petra Garcia; two brothers, Cecilio Garcia and Santos Garcia; and one sister, Isabel Perez. She is survived by her four daughters, Angie Alvarado Tawater of Hamilton and husband, Jon English; Oralia Alvarado and fiancé, Tony Ramos; Norma Alvarado, and Sarah Alvarado, all of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Cody Tawater of Hillsboro, Kayla Tawater of Hamilton, and Hennessy Alvarado of Hillsboro; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Miguel Trejo, Thomas Trejo, Aldo Trejo, Casey Carnell Jr., Adan Alejandro and Alfredo Arvizu. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Alvarado, Tony Ramos, Eddie Flores Jr., Jon English, and Earl Carmichael.
Special thanks to Oralia's longtime doctor, Christoper Teague; her nephew Adan Alejandro, whom she loved like a son, for being her handyman; to longtime family friend, Lee Smith, whom she loved like a daughter; to Bro. Bobby Jackson for advocating for her during her hospital stays; and to the many brothers and sisters of Jehovah's Witnesses for their constant love, prayers and friendship.
