Orin Ray Shugart

Orin Ray Shugart, a cherished husband, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on August 15, 1947, in Ennis, Texas, Ray lived a full and vibrant life, marked by an unwavering commitment to his loved ones and his country.

Ray is survived by his devoted wife, Madonna, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage, as well as several cousins and a multitude of dear friends. His warmth, humor, and generosity of spirit touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Ray had a unique way of connecting with others; he was known for saying his name was "Ornery," a playful blend of Orin and Ray, which reflected his fun-loving nature.

A proud veteran, Ray served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. His dedication to service continued well beyond his military career, as he became actively involved in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) organization in Arlington, where he remained a supportive presence for fellow veterans.

Ray's love for life extended to his faith; he was a man who loved the Lord deeply. He took joy in making others laugh and brought light into the lives of those around him. He will be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and the remarkable way he made everyone feel like family.

As we reflect on Ray's impact on our lives, we recognize that he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, service, and joy will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
