Patsy Marie (Slaughter) Hennig entered the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, during the evening of Saturday, October 25, 2025, at her residence in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, October 31, 2025, at Marshall and Marshall in Hillsboro. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday November 1, 2025, at 1pm, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Brother Darrel Phillips officiating. A burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Patsy was born on December 2, 1944, in Dallas, Texas to O.T. and Regina Slaughter. She lived in Dallas before moving to Lake Whitney. On June 10, 1961, Patsy was united in marriage to the love of her life, John D. Hennig of Clifton, Texas. Upon marriage, they lived the majority of their lives in Hillsboro, where they raised their three children; John T., Turner, and Jennifer. Patsy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother or "MiMi" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
For eighteen years, Patsy worked for Mexia State School with the Outreach Program in Hillsboro, at the First Presbyterian Church; and for the Hillsboro ISD Special Education Department. After retirement, she later substituted for Hillsboro and Bynum ISD, because of her tremendous love for children and their education. When she wasn't volunteering her time to the local schools, she spent her free time by; tending to her flowerbeds, making many trips to Shreveport, Louisiana with her husband, John, and cooking many wonderful meals for her family, specifically her mashed potatoes!
Preceding her in death were her parents; O.T. and Regina Slaughter, siblings; Orville Slaughter and Wanda Sue Slaughter, great-great grandfather; Colonel James Fannin, and one son; Turner Neal Hennig.
Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-four years, John D. Hennig; two children, John T. Hennig and wife, Grace, of Whitney; Jennifer Register and husband Glen, of Hillsboro; Daughter-in-law, Jill Hennig-Jerrett of Stephenville; seven grandchildren, Jaron Trout and husband, Matt of Midlothian; Jade Bumgarner and husband, Evan of Mansfield; Scott Hennig and wife, Scarlet of Hillsboro; Fisher Hennig and wife, Abby of Whitney; Brayden Hennig and wife, Macie of West; Savannah Albright and husband, Grant of Midland; Sophie Hennig and fiancé, Hayden of West; and ten great-grandchildren along with many other friends and family.
