Perry Edwards passed away in Bonham, Texas, on January 30, 2026, at the age of 92. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 6, 2026, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 t0 1:00 PM. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Garden of Memory Cemetery in Hillsboro.
He was born June 12, 1933, in Marion, Louisianna.
After a stint in the Army in Germany, Perry came home and went to college. There may be a few still alive who remember the infamous cow incident at Magnolia State. While at the University of Arkansas, he met his future brother-in-law, Travis Williams, who took him home one weekend. He met Ruthelene and they wed in June 1957. Perry earned his master's degree in entomology, amassing the largest insect collection ever at the time, and went on to work for Birdseye Foods, then Ciba-Geigy before venturing out on his own with a pest control business, a crop consulting with aerial spraying business and a catering business. Many of us have fond memories of that fried catfish.
When his first grandchild was born, he said "I'm not old enough to be anybody's Grandpaw, so he can just call me Pop." Jason apparently agreed and it was adopted by the rest of the family.
Perry loved to fish and hunt when younger, although Ruthelene suspected hanging out with his friends at the hunting camp was the best part for him. He loved to garden and took pride in having a lot of veggies canned and frozen to feed the family. One would never leave the house hungry if he had anything to say about it.
Perry is survived by his four children and their spouses; Julie and Gary Touchstone, Paula and Jean-Marc Rouyre, Amanda and Eddy Hodges, and Charles and Rachel Edwards; nine grandchildren; Trey Touchstone, Shelby Touchstone, Jason and Lauren Hinshaw, Madeline and Patrick Moraghan, Morgan Edwards, Claire Edwards, Charles Edwards Jr, Bridgette Edwards and Justin Edwards; and one great-grandson, Kysen Cummings.
Preceding Perry in death; his beloved wife Ruthelene; their first-born son; his parents, Eddie Marie Bearden (Denham) Edwards and Perry C. Edwards Sr.; five sisters and two brothers.
