Prather Leslie Thomas, 68, of Whitney, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013, at a Waco hospital. Graveside services will be at noon on Friday, February 15, 2013, at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney, with the Reverend Eddie Booth officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a..m., Friday, February 15, 2013, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney,.
Mr. Thomas was born on February 27, 1944 in Houston, Texas, to Coy and Dorothy (Cheek) Thomas. On March 29, 2001, he married Patsy Brewer in Whitney. He served his country in the United States Army, retiring after 32 years and was an electrician with Brown and Root as well. He was also a volunteer fireman with the Whitney Fire Department for many years, serving as chief for several years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Whitney, and had volunteered at the DAV thrift store in Whitney for the past five years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed being a HAM operator. Prather was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Eugene Thomas and one sister, Norma Gail Hawkins.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Thomas of Whitney; children, Les Thomas and wife Lisa, of Buda; James Thomas of Whitney; Brenda Marek-Harding of Whitney, Freddie Leal and wife, Stacie and John Leal and wife Gabriela of Whitney; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and sister, Patricia Daniel and husband Dwain of Whitney
