Randy Allen Phillips, 71, formerly of Stockdale, Texas, passed away in his home in Richwood, Texas on June 26, 2026.
Randy was born in Seguin, Texas on October 17, 1954. He learned the value of hard work in the watermelon patches in and around Stockdale. He could fix pretty much anything mechanical. He would often be found working on cars, from minor repairs to replacing motors. He even told his brother, step by step, how to replace the head gaskets on his pick-up over the phone. His outlook on life was to live and let live. He was never condescending to others. This does not mean he did not have an opinion, and he spoke it freely. Randy was rarely seen without his black tank top, black sweatpants in the winter and black shorts in the summer, and a cigar hanging out of his mouth. He never missed a holiday or birthday call to his family. He was one of a kind and loved by all.
Randy worked many years repairing pumps in the oil field. Later he went to work with his best friend and boss, David Shockley, at Southline Equipment and later Equipment Depot, where he retired in 2020.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Otho and Nellie Ruth Phillips, his sister, Debbie Arnett and his nephew J. P Arnett. He is survived by his daughter Suzanne Phillips (Christopher Miller), and his granddaughter Emerald Miller all of Washington. His sisters, Ruby (Gary) Talley, Pam (Chester) Burrier, brothers Brandon (Jennifer) Phillips and Darrel (Sandy ) Phillips. Nieces and nephews Chanda Arnett, Alan Arnett, Cody Talley, Rachelle Rice, Bobbie Jo Talley, Michael Talley, Chet Burrier, Shawn Burrier, Michelle Phillips, Daniel Phillips, D.J. Phillips, Thomas Phillips, Lain Phillips, Deci Phillips as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Family is not always defined by blood relatives. Randy is also survived by his Angleton family, David (Gaye) Shockley, their children Tenielle Ripple, Josh Cotta, Chad Cotta, Nick Cotta, and Chris Cotta. There are many who called him "Uncle Randy" and they will always cherish his laughter and crude jokes.
There are no services planned at this time. Family and friends are encouraged to gather to celebrate Randy in a manner that will honor him.
