Rev. Melvin W. Lee, 88,of Whitney, passed away on July 20, 2017 in Cleburne. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2017, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Rev. Weldon Coble of Pentecostal Church of God, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at the funeral home.
  
  
  Melvin was born on October 1, 1928, in Ballinger. At age 5, after the death of his parents, he moved to San Angelo where he was raised by his aunt and uncle. He began pastoring a church there at age 20.
  
  
  On June 2, 1960, he married Jenéva Sturdivant in Lubbock and they were married for 57 years. Following their wedding, he pastored churches in Crosbyton, Hereford, Amarillo, Garland, Marshall and Purcell, Oklahoma. Following his time as a pastor, he began his career as an evangelist for the next 10 years until his retirement in 1998.
  
  
  The couple had resided in Whitney for the past 20 years and enjoyed every minute of it while raising three grandsons and four granddaughters there.
  
  
  He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Lee; 4 brothers, and 2 sisters
  
  
  Survivors include his wife, Jenéva Lee of Whitney and son, A.J. Lee of Cove, Arkansas; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
