With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Richuel Massey, who departed this world on June 13, 2025. Richuel was a pillar of strength, a beacon of wisdom, and a source of unwavering love and guidance to all who knew him. A vessel of God's boundless love, he shared that love generously with everyone he encountered.
Born on May 27, 1959, in Athens, Texas, to Jimmy and Frankie Mae Massey, Richuel was a dedicated individual who lived a life defined by devotion to his family and his work. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, a protective brother, a loyal friend, and a committed member of his community. His presence radiated warmth and comfort, and his words of wisdom left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Richuel was a man of integrity and honor, possessing a gentle spirit that touched the lives of many. He lived with purpose and passion, always placing the needs of others before his own. His legacy of compassion, generosity, and selflessness will continue to inspire all those fortunate enough to have crossed his path. He had a gift for making everyone feel valued and loved, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who were blessed to know him.
Richuel is survived by his beloved wife Rhonda Massey, his children: Stacey Massey, Richuel Massey II, Donald Massey, Vanity Massey, Yolandra Fulton-Massey, along with Treneze Sanders, and Lamar Hughes. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Richuel Massey III, Deejay Massey, Christopher Hailey Jr., Seleste Massey, Tyson Fulton, Monti Barker, George Jones Jr., Yo'Shiana Jones, Le'Brianna Jones, along with Aalaia Duke; and his siblings: Willa (Jean) Milligan, Anna Franklin, Michael Rhinehart, Forris (Tippy) Massey, Gracie Mae Dickerson, and Patrick Massey. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Massey Jr.; his mother, Frankie Mae Massey; Gay Lynn Massey; and his siblings, Jimmie Neil Lindsey, Vincent Massey, Loretta Massey, and Kay Kay Massey.
The memories and lessons Richuel shared during his time on earth will forever be cherished. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. We will forever carry Richuel's love, wisdom, and spirit with us as we navigate life's journey without him. May his soul find eternal peace in the loving embrace of God.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
