Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Garden of Memory Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Roberta was born to Abe and Bess Mason, October 28, 1935, in Irene, Texas. She first met Leon when they were young children and Leon's mom babysat her. They were friends from the start, then they began dating when Roberta was a teenager and dated for seven years before Leon asked her to marry him. They were married on Thanksgiving Day in 1954 at her parent's house in Irene, Texas.
Roberta loved Leon, they went dancing every Saturday night at Geneva Hall. The first ones there and the last to leave. You could often find Roberta in her sewing room at her house, working on a project while listening to and watching her Texas Rangers play. She took many trips with Leon to Louisiana where she would sit beside him as he played. Roberta worked for Bank of America and retired as Bank President after forty-eight years. She retired when Leon turned eighty, he said that was the best gift he ever received. She spent many years serving the community in numerous ways, President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Fire Department, or the Lions Club, or with the Chamber/Main Street. After retirement, she spent her days with Leon, fixing him breakfast, watching Price Is Right, then watching their programs together. Going to the pasture to check on the cows and working in her sewing room. Roberta leaves a beautiful Legacy. She loved her kids and grandkids and would light up anytime anyone of them entered the room. Even at the end she would still smile and nod when the kids showed up.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Leon Helton of sixty-eight years, her parents, Abe and Bess Mason and Margaret Mason. Roberta is survived by her son Dwaine and wife Pam of Forney, Texas, Davey and his wife Laura of Hillsboro, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, Megan Thomas and husband Todd, Heather Scoggins and husband Derick, Nick Helton and wife Stacey, Cody Lunsford and wife Heather, Clay Lunsford and wife Mallory, Glenna Wier and husband Dave, and Sean Crain; eighteen great grandchildren, Lauren, Kade and wife Kira, Brennen and wife Lynden, Carson and fiancé Logan, Colby, Mason, Olivia, Lincoln, Tryston, Caden, Easton, Lyvv, Karter, Brittney and husband Tony, Kaili and Christopher; three great-great grandchildren Kasen, Collins and Lyam; brother Jim Mason and wife Carol of Dallas, Texas, brother Jeff Wolverton and wife Angie, brother John Wolverton and wife Danette, Jack Wolverton, along with many nieces and nephews.
