Roy Wesley Thacker, 76, of Blum, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2025, after living a full and exciting life. Born on November 9, 1948, Roy touched the lives of many through his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.
Roy is survived by his cherished service dog and companion, Bandit; his beloved sisters, Mary Alice Bucolo, Violet "Sis" Corbin, and Pearl Bolling; brother, Sydney "Mack" Macarther, along with his wife, Francis Thacker; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Thacker, all of Morristown, Tennessee. He is also survived by his son, Steven, and his wife, Aireen Miner, of Harwich, Massachusetts, and his daughter, Karen, and her husband, Steven Potts, of North Truro, Massachusetts. Roy was proud of his grandchildren: Marrissa, Joshua, Justus, and Augus Miner, and Hanna McGee, along with his great-grandchildren, Jayden McGee, Sofia, and Ezra Jagoda, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Roy was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Lori Meghan Thacker; brothers: Everett "Jimmy Jo," Raymond, and J.W. Thacker; and his parents, William Cornelis and Nola Pearl (Blackwell) Thacker.
Roy graduated from Bulls Gap High School in Bulls Gap, Tennessee, in 1967. In his younger years, he embarked on adventures as a long-haul truck driver, traversing the country. Later in life, Roy utilized his skills to establish R.W.T. Construction, a remodeling and renovations business that showcased his craftsmanship.
For the past 30 years, Roy resided in Blum, Texas, where he found joy in the warm company of friends and engaging in his community. He also summered on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, creating lasting memories with his children and their families. An ordained minister, Roy took pride in performing several wedding ceremonies, celebrating love and commitment among those he cared for dearly.
With a love for the Dallas Cowboys, hunting, fishing, gardening, and Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Roy approached life with passion and enthusiasm. He was known for his willingness to help anyone in need, offering support without question or judgment. His generosity and loyalty forged fast friendships wherever he went, and his easy smile and southern charm endeared him to all.
Roy Wesley Thacker will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, particularly his beloved family and closest friends. At his request, there will be no services to honor his memory.
