Sandra Lee Snedden

Sandra Lee 'Sandy' Snedden, 74, of Whitney, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 3, 2026. After facing cancer and beating it time and again from a young age, Sandy approached her final journey with unbelievable courage, strength, and an unmistakable spirit. Her warmth, kindness, and strength touched everyone who knew her. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed.

Sandy (Haas) Snedden was born on February 23, 1952, in Covington, Kentucky, to Charles and Mayme Haas. Her parents later relocated the family to Laurel, Maryland, where Sandy grew up. She graduated from Arundel High School in Gambrills, Maryland, in 1970. Shortly after graduation, Sandy married and had two sons, Michael and Nathan. Though that marriage later ended, her love for her children remained one of the greatest joys of her life. Sandy lived in several different states before ultimately settling down in Texas, where she met and married Joe Snedden on July 3, 2006. After living in Boerne for a while, they eventually settled at Lake Whitney, where they enjoyed fishing and spending time together.

Throughout her life, Sandy built a fulfilling career in banking, becoming known for her steadfast commitment, reliability, and genuine care for the people she served. She retired from banking, but sitting still was not her style, so she went to work at Walmart to “stay active and be social instead of just sitting at home,” where her warmth, dedication, and kindness shone through every day. Her family is deeply grateful for the friendship, care, and support shown by Walmart and coworkers during her time there and after throughout her illness.

Sandy was independent, outspoken, strong, and no-nonsense. She carried a fierce character that was deeply endearing to all who knew her. She loved her family and friends with every bit of her heart and soul, facing life’s hardships head-on and always pressing forward to meet the next challenge. Sandy enjoyed crocheting, latch hooking, and collecting Wizard of Oz memorabilia - a collection that was especially dear to her. Watching the original Wizard of Oz became a cherished tradition she looked forward to every year, and she was thrilled to have seen both Wicked movies, which brought her longtime love of the story full circle.

Sandy treasured the companionship of her many cats throughout life, holding a special place in her heart for her most recent, 'Nurse Kitty.' Her greatest joy was her family. Sandy’s face would light up whenever her grandchildren came to visit, and she cherished every conversation, shared laugh, and moment spent with them. Living nearby allowed her to attend several of Lily’s events and share those special milestones in person. Though most of her grandchildren lived farther away, Sandy did her best to be a loving 'far away Grandma,' staying connected through phone calls, photos, birthday cards, and the signature birthday checks they always looked forward to receiving. A recent visit from her grandson Cameron brought immense joy and laughter, especially as they shared their mutual love for Nurse Kitty. Sandy had a distinct way of making those around her feel loved, welcomed, and cared for, and her legacy will live on in the memories, lessons, and love she leaves behind.

Sandy is survived by her son Michael Bauder and his wife Melissa, her son Nathan Bauder and his wife Faith; her grandchildren, Brittany Bauder, Kayla Miller and husband Boe, Cameron Bauder, Peyton Bauder, and Lily Bauder; her great-grandchildren, Wesley and Chloe; her brother, Robert “Bobby” and wife Jayce; her sisters, Charlotte Haas and Barbara Fey and husband Wolfgang;’ and her cat Nurse Kitty. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Snedden, and her parents, Charles and Mayme Haas.

In accordance with Sandy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral or memorial service. Family and friends are invited to honor her memory in their own way, whether by sharing a story, offering a kind gesture, donating to a Cancer foundation of their choice, or remembering the love and joy she brought into their lives.

The family wishes to thank the hospice team at Wings over Texas, friends, coworkers, and neighbors for their support, kindness, and compassion during this time.
