Shelley Renee Fossett

Shelley “Renee” Simpson Fossett passed away in Clifton, TX on September 3, 2025. She is now in her Heavenly home and will be greatly missed.

Renee was born in Germany on November 27, 1957 to Wilburn Earl Simpson and Betty Shelley Ryno. She grew up in Whitney, Tx with her mom and graduated from Whitney High School in 1976. She married the love of her life, Loyd Randall Fossett on July 17,1988 and made their home in Clifton before moving to Whitney. Renee and Loyd were happily married for 37 years. She worked the last 20 years for Meridian Livestock Commission as a bookkeeper and made many lifelong friends with co-workers and customers. Renee was also called Renie and NeaNea. Renee never met a stranger and always had a smile. She loved her Dallas Cowboys and Big Red and made the BEST pumpkin roll ever.

Renee is survived by her husband Loyd, her sisters Johnnie Simpson Smith (Doug) and Lisa Simpson Sawyer (Justin) of Mexia, AL, Ann Simpson DeRouen of Monroeville, AL and brother Wilburn Timothy Simpson (Tracie) of Atmore, AL, and several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and brothers Wilburn Earl Jr, Stevie Ray and Earl “Simp” Simpson. The family would like to give special thanks to Baylor Scott and White in Waco and Goodall Witcher in Clifton (the hospice team and nurses) for their compassionate care of Renee in the last few months of her life.

A Memorial Service will be held at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors' Chapel in Whitney at 1:00 PM, October 4, 2025.
