Stephen Arthur Lynch, Sr.

Stephen A. Lynch 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Whitney on October 31, 2026, with his family beside him.

Steve was born on February 26, 1957, in Dallas, to John Robert Lynch, Jr. and Dorothy Juanita (Wooley) Lynch. Due to his mother’s passing when he was an infant, he was raised by his uncle and aunt, Clayton and Polly Carmichael, who lived near his dad and his two older sisters and brother. They lived in Dallas until moving to Kansas for a short time during his teenage years.  After moving back to Texas he met the love of his life, Debbie, whom he married and recently celebrated forty-eight years of marriage. A few years after being married they moved to Whitney to raise their family. 

Steve worked in the trucking industry before beginning a career in law enforcement eventually working his way up to be the captain of the department. After retiring from law enforcement he kept busy taking care of his cattle and projects around the house. His favorite things to do were spending time with his grandchildren, watching football and Nascar, hunting, fishing, connecting on his CB radio, and meeting friends for coffee. People knew him to be a fair, honest man who had quite the sense of humor.

Steve is survived by his wife, Debbie; his children, Jennifer Grote and husband David of Tyler, Stephanie Conner and husband Pat of Whitney, Stephen Lynch, Jr. and wife Miranda of Whitney; and his grandchildren Kaylea, Stephen III, Abigail, Adalynn, Hunter, and Hannah. He is also survived by his sisters Sherry Johnson, Linda Peters, Debbie Davis, his brother John Lynch III, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Dorothy Lynch, John Lynch, Jr., Clayton Carmichael, Norma Pauline Carmichael; and his sisters Marilyn Short and Carol Xavier Jones.
