Troy Lee Marbut

With deep sorrow and much love, we mourn the passing of Troy Lee Marbut, 57, of Whitney, TX. Troy passed away on May 1 2, 2026, at 9:10 p.m. after a hard-fought battle with renal cell carcinoma. He was born on November 4, 1968, to Carole June Morris Landon and James William Marbut in Cleburne, TX.

Troy graduated from Whitney High School in 1988 and married the love of his life, Melissa Marbut, on August 1 1, 1990. His son, Christopher Marbut, was born on July 25, 1991. Troy considered Christopher his pride and joy and wholeheartedly believed he was the best thing that had ever happened to him and Melissa.

Troy is survived by his wife, Melissa Marbut; son Christopher Marbut and wife Deanna (Grand puppy, Leota); sister, Sharmon Strickland and husband Larry; mother-in-law, Betty Easter; sister-in-law, Melinda Nelson and husband VJ (Samantha, Ahrens, and Kaylee); nephew Brent Marbut and wife Amanda (Easton and Landry); niece Chelsey Strickland (Cole); niece Sarah Vaughn and husband Michael (Taylor, Toby, and Tucker); step brother, Jeff Landon and wife Carlissa; step brother, Markle Landon and wife Joanna; step sister, Donna Clark and husband Dan; and a large number of additional family and friends.

Troy was preceded in death by his mom, Carole Landon; dad, Jimmy Marbut; father-in-law, Perry Easter; and stepdad, Ed Landon.

A visitation will be held on May 23, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall, Whitney, TX. Funeral services will follow the visitation and will start at 2:00 p.m. with Eddie Booth officiating. A burial service will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery in Whitney, TX.
