Virgil Barnes
Virgil was born October 2, 1926 in Snow Ball, Arkansas to Corbin Elijah and Mattie Jane Tipton Barnes. For 20 years he served as a sea merchant in the Coast Guard. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Whitney and VFW. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Pentecost and husband, Herman, of Garden City, Georgia; a sister, Anna Beseda of Hillsboro; and two grandchildren, Jeremy Lee Pentecost and Jason Matthew Pentecost both of Garden City, Georgia.
