William Morris Akin

William Morris Akin, age 63, passed away in Whitney, Texas on July 17, 2025. He was born on July 17, 1962, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Ellis Morris Akin and Jannette Irene Hughes Akin.

William grew up in a family rooted in service, love, and faith. He proudly served in the United States Navy, embodying a legacy of dedication and honor that he carried throughout his life. His deep love for his family, quiet strength, and loyal heart will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his children, Arielle Akin McGee and her husband Casey, Brelan Akin and his wife Hope; and six beloved grandchildren: Keira Dingrando, Kynadi McGee, Selah Akin, Rhys Akin, Rio Akin, and Rex Akin. William's siblings also survive him: Janna Akin Boniol and her husband Glenn, along with her children Garrett Harvey and wife Mollie, and Matthew Harvey; Joy Akin Smith and her husband Curtis, with their children Kirsten Smith and husband Brett, and Joel Smith; David Akin and his wife Rhonda, and their children Julia and Jacob Akin.

William was preceded in death by both of his parents: Ellis Morris Akin, born June 26, 1935, in Bowie County, Texas, who passed away on January 18, 2006, and Jannette Irene Hughes Akin, born January 9, 1943, in Shreveport, Louisiana, who left this world on June 18, 2010.

A memorial service honoring William's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Whitney Fellowship Church, located at 101 North Brazos St., Whitney, TX 76692. Military honors will be presented in recognition of his honorable service in the U.S. Navy.

Pallbearers will include Brelan Akin, David Akin, Jacob Akin, Mike Harvey, Garrett Harvey, Matthew Harvey, Joel Smith, and Casey McGee. An honorary pallbearer will be Curtis Smith. William Morris Akin will be remembered as a devoted father, loving brother, and cherished friend, whose impact on the lives of those around him will resonate for years to come.
