William Hubbard

William John Thomas Hubbard, age 51, passed away after a long battle with cancer on September 5, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by loved ones. A celebration of life will take place at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 12, 2025, at Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney, Texas, with burial to follow the service at Hillcrest Garden of Memory Cemetery in Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

He was born January 22, 1974, to William and Connie Hubbard in Dallas, Texas. J.T. attended school in Itasca and graduated from Itasca High School in 1992. He was married to Bonnie Garcia Hubbard from 1999 to 2020. They welcomed two daughters, Haley Jo Hubbard on January 4, 2001, and Jacey Lane Hubbard on July 27, 2006. The most important people in his life were his daughters.

J.T. had several jobs but his passion was the cowboy way of life. He spent most of his years working from sorting cattle to hauling them to the sale barn, sometimes from sun-up to sundown, weather or time did not matter; he did what he loved best, working cattle and being on his horse every day. He was a hard worker who loved keeping the cowboy tradition alive. He instilled that passion in both of his daughters too.

Most people knew him as J.T., though some knew him as William, John or even sometimes, John Thomas. He always questioned his mother for naming him three names. It was always confusing, but even more so at the DMV, where he would get most heated due to a short temper, if you can imagine. He enjoyed being on the road with his best friend, Dennis Allen, whether it was working and just having fun. J.T. had many hobbies including sorting cattle on his sorrel horse, roping, hunting and going to rodeos with his daughters. When he was not out with his friends, you could find him watching a western movie with his dog, Buddy, who he adored. Our dad will be greatly missed by all.

J.T. was preceded in death by his Pawpaw and Mamaw, Thomas and Bobbie Williams; his Pappy and Nanny, John and Helen Hubbard; his father-in-law, Noe Garcia; and multiple uncles and cousins.

He is survived by his daughters, Haley Mabry and her husband, Dillon and Jacey Hubbard; his mother, Connie Smitherman and step-father, Paul; his father, Bill Hubbard and stepmother, Donna; his sister, Leslie Hubbard; his step sister, Tiffany Hudson and her husband, Travis; his step brothers, Aaron Smitherman and his wife, Sylvia, and Justin Robinson and his wife, Michelle; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
