William Paul May

William "Paul" May of Brandon, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and children at his bedside. Paul was born on April 17, 1970, in Dallas, Texas, and grew up in many areas, but his family settled in the Hill County area where they made Brandon their home. Paul was a lifelong resident of Brandon and a 1987 graduate of Bynum ISD.

Paul had many different jobs over his lifetime but the one he was most passionate about was being an auto mechanic. At a very young age he watched his dad and uncles and learned hands on. His knowledge and want to fix anything made him a valued member of his community. He never met a stranger and couldn't walk into a local store without stopping to talk to a handful of people.

Paul lived a full life with a lot of crazy adventures and stories to tell, but some of his proudest accomplishments were celebrating twenty-nine years sober, being Baptized on November 30, 2025, and the birth of his granddaughter Emmylou. If you never heard a story about Emmylou then you may not have known him as well as you thought.

Paul married Deppye on May 19, 2018, in a small ceremony with family in attendance. After living two separate lives and having their own children, they met on April 19, 2017, and from that date they knew they had found their person. Even though they did not get many years they got quality years. From finishing the other person's sentence with a song or sharing their crazy sense of humor and wit. Paul reminded Deppye every day how much he loved her and how he had wished they had met so long ago, so that he would have so many more years to enjoy.

Pauls love for family was first and foremost in his life, no child was a stepchild that was his child and he would do anything and everything he could to be there for them. Paul would stop anything he was doing when anyone was in need. He continued to put everyone before himself. Even on the days when his health was not its best he continued to tell people to bring things by so he could take a look and figure out the problem.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Deppye May; six daughters and one son, Roselea Griffith, KC Neff, Ariel Somerville, Jessica May, Ana Yzaguirre, Myranda Newman and Jaxson Newman; six grandchildren, Sean, Mariah, Jacob, Madi, JC and Emmylou May. Paul leaves behind two sisters, Tina Adams and Patricia May; one brother, Benny May; and several nieces, nephews, one great niece and one great nephew.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Benny Fred and Merle Jean; granddaughter, Riley Jean Burkhart; and his father-in-law, Thomas Wayne Newman. Paul was greeted at the gates of heaven by so many family members and friends. He will continue to watch over all of us in the coming days and years.

His Love, friendship and witty comments will be missed by many. His shop doors may be closed but the memories will be there for years to come.
