Willie Mae Cox, 82, of Whitney, passed away on November 13, 2017, at Providence Hospital in Waco. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Rev. Eddie Booth of Peoria Baptist Church officiating.
Willie was born on November 13, 1935, in Dallas, to Morris and Viola (Dean) Storrs. On August 26, 1971, she married Earl “Red” Lester Cox, Sr., and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2000. She worked as a seamstress at both Malouf Manufacturing in Hillsboro and Walls Manufacturing in Clifton before going to work as a housekeeper for Park Plaza Nursing Home in Whitney for 27 years before retiring in 2005. She had been a resident of Whitney since 1960.
She was an avid quilter, but she also enjoyed coon hunting as well as fishing. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Morris Charles Storrs, Jr.; one sister, Peggy McAdams; her great-grandson, Tyler Osborne; and her sister-in-law, Edie Storrs.
Survivors include her children, Leroy Moseley and wife, Marilyn, Morris E. Moseley, Lynn Moseley and wife, Lori, and Roseann Hope and husband, Dickie, all of Whitney; ten granchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, June Averitte of DeSoto.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
