Aaron was born December 23, 1947, in Waxahachie, Texas to Jimmy and Gertrude Thigpen.  He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1966 and from SFA in 1970 with a degree in Forestry.  Aaron was a dedicated Forester and was most recently employed with the US Forest Service as the FIA Forester in this region.  He was a friend and mentor to many and loved what he did.  Aaron was a member of the Open Range Cowboy Church, a place where he felt he could worship his Lord and grow in his faith.  Aaron loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, working and chasing the grandkids around the yard.  Aaron will be remembered for his BIG personality and for his willingness to do anything for you.  He was a great daddy and taught his two children to love God, love family and a work ethic like no other.  He never missed a game, an event or an important moment growing up and we are forever grateful for everything he taught us.  He was a fantastic Grandaddy and Great Grandaddy, he loved those babies with everything he had and they will always remember how much he loved and cherished them.  We could go on forever about all the things we love and cherish about our husband, daddy and grandaddy, he leaves a legacy of strength, character, and love and he will be missed.

Aaron is survived by his wife, Theresa Thigpen; son, Jeff and wife Brandi Thigpen; daughter, Tammy and husband Robert Ellison; grandchildren, Faith and Anthony Miller, Micah and Miranda Ellison, Jacob Ellison and Ty and Denver Thigpen; Great Grandchildren, Carter Ellison and Blake and Addie Miller; brother, Everrett Amos Thigpen; beloved aunt, Lillian Upchurch Goodnight; brothers in law, D.W. Miles, Mike Hejl and wife Marianne, Tim Hutchings and wife Paula; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Gertrude Thigpen; sisters-in-law, Jeanine Ogle and Donna Miles; and brother, Levon and wife Jamie Thigpen.
