Alphonse Newton Obituary

Alphonse James Newton was born March 3, 1955, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Sherman and Florence (Moore) Newton.  He passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021, in Fort Worth, Texas.  A memorial Service will take place at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Grandview Seventh Day Adventist Church, Grandview, Texas.

Al worked many jobs throughout his career, including three years on the Dallas Police Force, and as a member of the team at Texas Instruments who produced the first calculators.  He was also an Environmental Specialist with Energy and Environment and worked thirty-three years for the Fort Worth Water Department.  Additionally, he taught classes as a board member at the Texas Water Utilities Association.

Al was passionate about his family and serving the Lord Jesus as an elder in the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  He was First Elder at the Mount Olive church and served as an elder at the Grandview Church he helped build.  Al was also instrumental in the building of the Fellowship Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dallas.  He faithfully shared the gospel and preached regularly at the Hillsboro church. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Gwendolyn Newton, and LaVerne Newton-Douglas.  Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Newton; children, Alisha Newton, and Al Newton II; brother, Sherman Newton, Jr., sister, Sherron Newton-Lodge; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
