Ashley Ann (Covington) Bishop

Ashley Ann Bishop, 35, of Clifton, passed away on May 20, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Pastor Stephen Daywitt officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:00 – 1:00 on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Ashley was born on February 27, 1985, to Johnny Ray Covington, Sr and Donna Christene Najera in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Pleasant Grove,Texas where she attended school. She was the mother of two boys that she adored.

In 2011, she got her CNA license and worked at Alvarado Meadows Nursing Home.   In 2015, she moved to Laguna Park and started working at Clifton Nursing and Rehab. She then decided to further her career as an RN and attended MCC in Waco while working part time at Bosque Mini Mart in Laguna Park so she could focus more on her college work. Her dream was shattered in 2017 when she was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. She fought a good fight for several years until her body just couldn’t take any more.

She is preceded in death by her father, Johnny Ray Covington, Sr.; sister, April Mar-che Elliott; great-grandparents, Quince and Eunice Mayo and Elton and Bessie Voss; cousins, Kevin Mayo and Shannon Mayfield;  grandparents, Wendall and Virginia Covington.

She is survived by her two sons, Sean and Haiden Bishop; her mother, Donna Najera and step-father, Danny Najera of Laguna Park; grandparents, Gerald and Wanda Mayo of Clifton; her sister, Courtney Covington; a brother, Johnny Covington, Jr., two step-brothers, Daniel and Michael Najera of Clifton; uncles and aunts, Connie and Nick Partain of Kaufman, Texas, Jerry and Wanda Mayo of Forney, Texas, Pat Schmitz of Laguna Park and Darrell Mayo of Galveston, Texas. 

The family would like to give a special thanks to Providence Hospice for their care of Ashley, especially Crystal, Michelle and Wilda.
