Betty Sue Elmore of Mertens, Texas, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, in Hillsboro, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 14, 2022, at First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Mertens, Texas. Visitation will take place 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas.
Betty was born on December 10, 1937, in Ellis County, to Willie Ray and Susie May (Hart) Stringer. She graduated from Frost High School in 1956. Betty worked most of her life as a seamstress, making cheerleading outfits, wedding gowns and brides maid dresses. A faithful Christian, she was very active in the First Baptist Church in Mertens until her health failed. Her hobbies included crocheting, traveling with Senior Circle, and volunteering with Senior Circle. She loved animals, especially cats and collected thimbles.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Ballew. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Debora Elmore; her son, Wayne Elmore and his wife, Jolyn; her son in law, Don Ballew; her sister, Dorothy Smithey; her grandchildren, Cody Ballew and his wife, Marcy, Caleb Ballew and his wife Sarah; her great-grandchildren, Emory Ballew, Grace Ballew, Owen Ballew, and Ava Ballew; and several nieces and nephews.
