Bobby Ward Obituary

Bobby Ward, 88, of Whitney passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021, in Hillsboro.  A graveside service under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Whitney Memorial Park in Whitney. Face masks and social distancing are required.

He was born to Homer and Lena Ward on July 17, 1932, and graduated from Whitney High School in 1951. He married Helen Barnett in 1953. Bobby served in the National Guard and the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the VFW. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors.

He retired from General Tire after 30 years of service and then from Whitney ISD after 20 years of service. Many people who attend school in Whitney know him as Mr. Bobby.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Check, Thomas, Rellis, and Billy Joe; and sisters, Velma Gunter, Zolena Overton, and Ruth Iley.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen and their niece who is more like a daughter, Jeannie Hollingshead and husband, Jerry, of Peoria, her son, Kyle and his wife, Annie, and her grandson, Quin, all of Dripping Springs. Also surviving him are his brothers, Joe Ward and wife, Pat, of Hillsboro, and Jerry Ward and wife, Janet, of Arlington; sisters-in-law, June Ward, Betty Ward, and Billie Barnett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
