Calvin (Sonny) C. Boatman Jr.

Calvin “Sonny” C. Boatman Jr., 74, of Whitney, Texas, entered into God’s kingdom on August 2, 2023. We will celebrate his 74.999 years of life on August 25, 2023 at 1:30 pm at White Bluff Chapel in Whitney, TX.  

He was born August 3, 1948, to Eva Nell Robertson Boatman and Calvin C. Boatman. After graduating from R.L. Turner High School in 1966, he attended Cooke County College in Gainesville, TX.  Sonny and Mary met in high school and were married in 1970. Mary was the love of his life and she loved him dearly. They were married for 53 years. He worked at Ford Motor Company from 1969 until he had to take a medical retirement in 2000. In 2002 he received a heart transplant from 21 year old Jeffrey Ballew and he lived another 21 years.

His twin grandchildren, CJ and Shelby were the light of his life.  He loved them “To the Moon and Back”. Sonny made friends wherever he went.  He was a man of integrity, and truly a great man who had a strong faith in God. He left his thumbprint on our hearts and we will miss him.

Calvin is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Kevin; daughter, Amanda and husband Patrick Harris; grandchildren, CJ and Shelby Harris; sister Lynda Collins
