Clara Chandler Obituary

Clara Ruth Scott Chandler, 65, of Laguna Park, Texas, lost her courageous battle with breast cancer  on May 14, 2020.   The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

Clara’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sunset Home and Hospice in Clifton, Texas for the care they showed to Clara during her difficult time, especially to Betty Perez whom Clara came to love dearly.

She was born on September 22, 1954, in Lampasas, Texas to Grady and Sybil Scott and graduated from Lampasas High School in 1972.   After graduation, she moved to Deer Park, Texas where she went to work for PP-G with her sister, Wanda Hartman.

In 1973, she married Ray Chandler in the First Baptist Church of Deer Park.   They had 2 children, Misty Leigh Chandler Vivion and William Paul Chandler.

In 1974, she went to work for Memorial Herman SW Hospital and in 1997 she became the Supervisor of the computer help desk.   In 1998 she was recognized as employee of the quarter.

In 1999, she and Ray moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area where she went to work for South Fulton Hospital, working in the computer room. 

Moving back to Houston in 2006, she went to work for Mobil Design Tech and she loved working for her boss Damon Spiegel.   Due to the cancer, she retired in 2019.

Clara was the secretary for West Shore Civic Association in Laguna Park, a position she loved, especially baking bread for the bake sale.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Grady and Sybil Scott of Adamsville; a niece, Jennifer Howeth Patterson of Laguna Park and a nephew Roy White of Killeen.

Survivors include her husband of 47 wonderful years, Ray Chandler; a daughter, Misty Leigh Vivion and husband, Jason of Koppel, Texas; a son, William Paul Chandler and wife, Jaclyn of Barnesville, Georgia; grandchildren, Shane Elizabeth Chandler Vivion, Sarah Patton Vivion, Katie Vivion, Noah Elijah Chandler,  Conner Chandler, Shelby Chandler; sisters, Paul White, Wanda Hartman and husband, John of La Grange, Sue Alice (Scottie) Patterson and husband, Gene of Laguna Park; a brother-in-law, Bobby Steen and wife, Linda of San Antonio; numerous nieces and nephews.
