Darrell Lelton Vest, age 68 of Whitney passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022, at his residence in Whitney. He will lie in state Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 8, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Levin Ainsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Milford cemetery In Milford.
Darrell was born June 8, 1953, in Waxahachie, Texas to Arch Lelton and Mickey (Deshazer) Vest. He grew up in Texas and Oregon. Darrell spent most of his time in Safford, Arizona where he was united in marriage to Maxine Watt on January 19, 1990. For all of his working career he worked in carpentry and construction, and with those abilities, Darrell bought the family lake house and restored it beautifully.
Darrell enjoyed restoring vintage cars, especially his 1965 ford cherry red mustang, playing his guitar and fishing on Lake Whitney. Darrell was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, and enjoyed good home cooking, especially fried potatoes, pinto beans, and corn bread. He also enjoyed growing his own vegetable garden and canning his fruits and vegetables. Darrell was a very energetic person and always had several projects going at once.
Preceding him in death was his parents and 2 sisters, Judy Marie Vest and Vickey Joyce Frush.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Maxine Vest; children, Grady Alton Vest, Sandra Vest, Carl Vest, Molly Cummings, John Watt, and Cora Christ; brother, Michael Joe Vest; sister, Sheryl Leona McKay and Linda Marie Parks; uncle, Nolan Vest; and 9 grandchildren.
