David Charles "Dave" Haver

David Charles “Dave” Haver, age 93, of Hillsboro passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021, in Waco. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Pastor Al Crane officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Waco Memorial Park in Waco. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at the funeral home. Facial masks and social distancing will be required.

Dave was born August 4, 1927, in Cheboygan, Michigan to William Lewis and Mrytle Laurcreta (Nixon) Haver. He grew up in Michigan until the age of 13 and traveled with a carnival for two years. At the age of 15, he worked on merchant marine ships until he went into the service. Dave was united in marriage to Mildred Jones on June 26, 1954, and she preceded him in death on June 27, 1990. He later married June Williams on August 4, 1990 and she preceded him in death on October 31, 2015.

Dave was an avid collector of clocks, coins, and gems.  He enjoyed making jewelry and was an avid golfer. He loved baseball and football. Dave was a faithful and active member of the First Assembly of God Church for over 30 years, where he served in many capacities. He also served his country faithfully in the United States Army from 1948-1968, when he was honorably discharged.

Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife, Mildred Haver; second wife, June Haver; and eight siblings.

Dave is survived by his extended family, Bobby and Ann Ward, Christy Whitney, Melissa Whitney, Jarrod Whitney, Jesse Cox, Mackiel Cochran, and Harry Abercombie; brother, Dale Haver and wife, Sharon; several nieces and nephews; many friends; and pet companion cats, Memo and Meme.
