Earnest Ray Monroe age 60, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest in Waco. A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Eddie Booth officiating. Burial will follow at Sand Flat Cemetery in Sand Flat,Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2020 at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors.
Earnest was born February 18, 1960 in Cleburne, Texas to Odell and June (Wynn) Monroe. He grew up in Cleburne and Covington, graduating from Covington High school in 1978. Earnest spent his whole life doing construction, mainly as a fiber optic telephone installer as the foreman. He enjoyed watching Nascar, Bar-B-Queing and going fishing. Earnest was an avid football fan and an avid animal lover especially dogs.
He was preceded in death by his father, and brothers, Ronnie and Anthony Monroe.
Earnest is survived by his spouse, Darla Tankersley; mother, June Monroe; daughters, Amanda and Sandy; sister, Carletta Erlewein; nieces, April Christian and Shannon Monroe; a friend of 52 years, John Boyd; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
