Etna L. Wood

Etna L. Wood, age 85 of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, July16, 2020, at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest in Waco, Texas.

Etna was born on April 16, 1935, in Wood County, Texas, to Thomas Henry and Bernice (Fairchild) Cornelius. On November 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Jerry M. Wood.

She was a loving mother, wife, sister, and nanny.  Etna loved gardening.  She also served as Optimist Club president for two years at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro. 

Preceding her in death were her husband of 66 years, Jerry Wood  and a son-in-law, Bobby R. Hester.

Etna is survived by her 6 children that she raised and loved, Charles Neagle of Whitney, Jerry Ray Wood and wife, Theresa, Linda Hester of Marshall, James Wood and wife, Joyce of Alvarado, Billy Joe Wood of Terrell and Melinda Wood of Hillsboro; a brother, Homer Cornelius of Hensly, Arkansas; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; her beloved dog, PeeWee; and many nieces and nephews.
