Besides his Lord, Weldon’s greatest loves were his family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory; his loving wife, Betty Higginbotham; sister, Barbara Grice and husband, Fred of Corsicana; daughter, Keri Robin and husband, Gary of Vidor; son, Ssgt James Higginbotham, ret. and wife, Tracy of Kerens; daughter Shara Borden and husband, Buddy of Corsicana; son, Mark Ayers and wife, Annette of Whitney; daughter, April McKinney of Whitney; grandchildren and their families, Jamie Kidder, Luke Cooper, Kelli Moore, Joshua Borden, Brittany Rosenoff, Nicholas Higginbotham, Katherine Sterling, Houston Higginbotham, Abigail Ayers, Madeline Justus, and Macy McKinney, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends.

Weldon was born in Palestine, Texas on August 21, 1938. He graduated Purdon High School in 1957 and Navarro College with an accounting degree in 1960. He was a member of the National Guard Army Reserves. He served as a fireman in Corsicana until he opened his own insurance agency, real estate, and home building businesses that he ran for many years. He obtained his pilot license and flew a single engine Cesna every chance he got and was a member of The Commemorative Air Force, Corsicana Chapter. His hobbies were his love for God, family, and friends. He helped with Bible Hour and the church bus ministries in Mexia, Texas and served as an elder at the Whitney Church of Christ where he also supervised the remodel of the church building. He attended many sporting events for his kids and grandkids throughout the years. He also enjoyed camping and traveling with family and starting new projects around the house.

“God gave us a beautiful world” and “I’ve had a good life” he would often say. Weldon will be missed but his memories will last a lifetime. Rest well our loving husband, father, brother and friend.

For this reason, I also suffer these things; nevertheless, I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that day. Be loyal to the Faith. ~ II Timothy 1:12
