Helen Kathryn Ward

Helen Ward, 88, of Whitney passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, in Waco. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Whitney Memorial Park in Whitney with Mr. Bruce Martin officiating.  Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 14, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

She was born to Leonard and Ima Barnett on March 1, 1933.  She married Bobby Ward in 1953.  Helen retired from Community Public Service (now Texas-New Mexico Power Co.) after 40 years. 

She was a wonderful cook, caregiver, and friend.  Helen never met a stranger and had an uncanny memory for history and names.  She had a genuine interest in everyone she met.      

Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bobby, who died just 4 months ago.  Also preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Jimmie, Lewis, and Leonard; and sister, Ruby Nell Boyd.

She is survived by her niece who has always been more like a daughter, Jeannie Hollingshead and husband Jerry, of Peoria; their son, Kyle and his wife, Annie, and their son, Quin, all of Dripping Springs.  Also surviving her are brothers-in-law, Joe Ward of Hillsboro and Jerry Ward of Arlington and their wives, Pat and Janet respectively; sisters-in-law, June Ward, Betty Ward, and Billie Barnett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
