Jeffrey Neil Smith

Jeffrey Neil Smith, 73, of Covington, Texas, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022, at his home.  A memorial service will take place at 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro, Texas with Rick Robinson officiating. 

Jeffrey was born November 29, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Jerry and Lorraine Logston Smith.   He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved them dearly. Jeffrey may have seemed to have a gruff exterior but was a soft-hearted teddy bear who especially loved children.  Among his passions were camping, and numerous adventures including obtaining a pilot’s license and scuba certification.  He survived numerous physical ailments with an admirable tenacity and fervor.  Known for always having a project to engineer, he recently purchased a 1962 Chevrolet for his latest project car.  He loved drinking coffee on the front porch and his puppies.  A true A-plus personality, he was opinionated, original, tenacious, and larger than life. 

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife, Joann (Worell) Smith; his daughter, Jean Tatum and her husband, Kevin; his sisters, Cyndi Colburn and her husband, Max, and Sali Cuvillier; his grandchildren, Brittany Starnes and her husband Blake, Brianna Green, and Don Teel; great-grandchildren, Cullen Starnes, and Haelyn Teel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
