Jimmy Harland Curtis, 92, of Hillsboro passed away Monday, June 29, 2020. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Mr. Glen MacDonald and Mr. Andy Smith officiating. The family request that anyone attending the graveside service to please wear a mask. Mr. Curtis will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Jimmy was born April 26, 1928 in Bynum to James Henry and Ina Mae (Steele) Curtis. He received his Bachelor degrees in Agriculture and Mathematics and minored in Education from Abilene Christian College (now ACU). Jimmy taught school in Hillsboro for two years before returning to farming full-time.
On June 5, 1955, Jimmy was united in marriage to Joyce Chewning in Fort Worth. The couple loved traveling the world while Joyce gave watercolor workshops. He was a member of Hillsboro Church of Christ.
Preceding him in death were his parents and step-brother, Malcolm Curtis.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Joyce Curtis of Dallas; and two daughters, Michelle Wade and husband, Ronnie, of Hillsboro and Marcia Curtis-Hornsby and husband, David, of Dallas.
