Obituary

Jimmy Mike Welch, 67, of Whitney, was called home by our Holy Father on Monday, July 25, 2022, in Waco.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Bruce Martin officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Services are under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors.

Mike was born on November 14, 1954, in Kermit, Texas to the late Benton and Rose Etta (Brummett) Welch. He attended Bloomington High School in Bloomington, Indiana. He and Debbie Tabisola were married on November 10, 1978, in the Florida Keys.

Mike proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict.  After his service, he worked in carpentry, then obtained his Realtors License in Texas. After a few years, they moved to Hawaii where he sold Harley Davidsons. In Hawaii they purchased property in Montana, where they lived for the next 20 years. In Montana, he served as a fire fighter, sold trucks, trained horses and built log homes. They relocated to North Dakota where he and Debbie worked on the Pipeline together. In 2010 they made their final move back to Texas, where he sold real estate. A few years later they moved to Whitney to retire on the lake, where he did what he loved most, fishing. Mike was a loving husband and father who constantly spoiled his wife and always put his children first. He was a social butterfly, a giving friend and neighbor. He enjoyed life and the people around him to the fullest and will be deeply missed by his family & friends.

Mike is survived by his wife Debbie. His three children, Crystal, Misty and Austin. His two sisters, Toni Jo and Benetta as well as his two grandchildren, Kaiya and Charlotte.
