John Griffin Knox

John Griffin Knox, 93, of Hillsboro, passed away in his sleep  on September 11, 2020.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday September 14, 2020, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, with Pastor Kenny Kennedy  officiating.  Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro.  A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. 

John was born on December 26, 1926, to Benson and Pearl Knox in Hill County and was the middle child of three sons.   He was a farmer all of his life.   In years past, he loved deer hunting and fishing.

John attended school in Peoria and graduated from Hillsboro High School.  In 1946, he married Mary Francis (Myrt) Erwin.    They had a daughter and two sons.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 68 years; an infant daughter, Donna Francis Knox; and two brothers, Mike and Charles.

He is survived by his two sons, David (Sherrie) of Hillsboro and Tom (Lucy) of Maypearl; grandchildren, Brian, Mandi, Becky, Robbie, Jason and Chris; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Ethan, Issac, Cole, Elizabeth, Zachary, Corbin, Ethan, Taylor, Brinley and Audree.

John was a founding member of Trail to the Cross Cowboy Church in Hillsboro.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
