Johnnie Grace (Merritt) Janes, 57, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2022, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with George Merritt and Dwayne Merritt officiating. Burial will follow at Hickey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, at the funeral home.
Johnnie was born January 16, 1965, in Denver City, TX, to Carrol William Merritt and Betty Louise (Jones) Merritt. She was a 1983 graduate of Cleburne High School. Johnnie’s favorite colors were yellow, pink, and teal. She loved flowers, especially carnations, roses, black roses, and spider mums. She was a member of Trail To The Cross Cowboy Church and her favorite scripture reading was II Corinthians 13:4-10.
On April 21, 1991, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Alan Janes in Vaughan. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2016.
Also preceding her in death were her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Jones; father, Carrol Merritt; mother, Betty Louise Merritt Allen; sister, Patricia Merritt; and step-son, Kenneth Alan Janes, Jr.
Survivors include her brother, Carrol “Sonny” Merritt; and five sisters, Freda Webb and husband, Chuck, Kay Farquahar and husband, Larry, Peggy Hawks and husband, Doyle, Brenda Stotts and husband, Tommy, and Sally Price and husband, Wayland.
