Joyce Juanita (Omberg) Hollingsworth

Joyce Juanita Hollingsworth, 90, of Hillsboro, Texas, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, April 14, 2023, at First Baptist Church, Mertens, Texas, with Pastor Seth Fuller officiating. A burial will follow at Frost Cemetery.  Visitation will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas.

Joyce was born January 9, 1933, to Archie Adolph and Ruthie Eunice (Ballew) Omberg, in Emmett, Texas.  She grew up in the Emmett/Mertens area and graduated from Frost High School.  After graduating, she began her career with Hillsboro ISD as Finance Director, where she remained until retiring in 1998.  Joyce was united in marriage to Robert Hollingsworth in June of 1966.  An avid sports fan, she loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Lady Bears basketball team.  Joyce was a member of Les Causeuses and VFW and was very active with the Hill County Cell Block Museum for many years. 

Preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Ruthie Omberg and her husband, Robert Hollinsworth, Joyce is survived by her brothers, Max Omberg and wife, Edith, and Roger Omberg; four nieces, Glenda King and husband Carl, Donna Smith and husband, Larry, Rhonda Omberg and Kathy Boshears; two nephews, Kyle Omberg and wife, Jaye, and Jeff Omberg; and numerous great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.
