Karen Graves Obituary

Karen Rose Graves, 81, of Whitney, passed away on March 15, 2020, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro.   A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas with Mr. Glenn Gray officiating.   She will lie-in-state from 8:00 a.m. until noon on Wednesday at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Karen was born on October 30, 1938, in Crowell, Texas to Ancel and Edith (Hopkins) Hall.   She grew up in Crowell, attended schools there and graduated from Crowell High School in 1957.  On July 27, 1957, she was united in marriage to Jimmy Louis Graves, Sr.

She worked as a CNA at Park Plaza in Whitney and then at Lake Whitney Medical Center, retiring in 2011.    An avid reader, she also enjoyed playing dominoes as well as board games, but really enjoyed flower gardening.   Karen was a member of Riley Church of Christ in Dallas.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jimmy Louis Graves, Sr., in August of 1986; a son, Jimmy Louis Graves, Jr.; a granddaughter, Crystal Graves and grandson, Jerry Wendell Anderson, IIi.

Survivors include her children, Julie Anderson and husband, Jerry Jr., and Sandra Nelson and husband, Chris, all of Whitney; grandchildren, Blaize Gardner and husband, Justin of Laguna Park, Christopher Nelson, Jr. of Whitney, and Jimmy Louis Graves, III and wife, Stephanie of Terrell; great-grandchildren, Austin, Tyler and Savannah Graves, of Terrell; a brother, Joe Hall and wife, Sue of Pampa;  a sister Sherry Hardin and husband, Billy of Greenville; and sister-in-law Mary Ann Hall of Waxahachie.
