Linda Kay (Allen) Tufts

Linda Kay (Allen) Tufts, 79, of Hillsboro, Texas, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hillsboro. A memorial service will take place at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 3, 2023, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro.

Linda was born in Dallas, Texas, and raised in Hillsboro, Texas. In her early years, she married Otis Weldon (Sonny) Hight and had two children, Debra Kay and Rebecca Sue Hight. She worked at the courthouse in Hillsboro shortly after high school graduation and then went to work for Hillcrest Carpet in Hillsboro, Texas. She followed the owners, Mr. Lynch and Mr. Breach to Houston where she worked for them at Custom Ready Mix, Inc. The business was bought by a large international firm, Pioneer of America, where she was executive assistant to the president. During this time, she married Benny Frank Tufts. In 1986 they decided to open their own ready mix company in Waxahachie, Texas, Tufco Ready Mix, Inc. They sold the business in 2000 and moved out to the ranch they owned in Hillsboro. Benny and Linda divorced in 2003 but were reunited later in life and spent their remaining years together until his death on February 5, 2022.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney Crow and Dorothy Louise (Barns) Allen; Benny Frank Tufts; and one daughter, Debra Kay Hight.

She is survived by one daughter Rebecca Sue Hight Wood and her husband, Cecil of Henrietta, Texas and her daughter Lisa Kay Lockwood and her son, Axel Cash, two grandsons Joe Allen Sheddan Jr. and his daughters, Bailee and McKinlee and Jacob Todd Hight and his son, Landon. She had one sister, Kathy Sue Psencik and husband Ernie of Georgetown and their children Clay Allen Psencik and Kari Brook Psencik Quick and husband Justin with their children Sidney and Bo. She is also survived by a large extended family, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
