Lula Bell (Wiley) Crawford

Lula Bell Crawford, age 89, of Whitney passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, in Whitney.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 26, 2021, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Greg Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park in Whitney. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, March 25, 2021, at the Funeral home. Facial masks and social distancing are encouraged.

Lula Bell was born May 16, 1931 in Whitney, Texas to Johnny Loyd and Hassie Vera (Taylor) Wiley. Lula married Stanley Ward Jr. on July 17, 1948 in Whitney, in 1991 she married Billy Mack Crawford. Lula worked at the Whitney Clinic and hospital as an x-ray lab tech for 29 years. She then later worked for the Corp of Engineer for 12 years as Park Host, then for Guinn Park for 10 years. During her teen years she loved working with her dad in the fields bailing hay. In the 1960’s and 70’s, Lula and Jr. operated the Exxon station in Whitney.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Stanley Ward Jr.; father, Johnny Loyd Wiley; mother, Hassie Vera (Taylor) Wiley; sister, Helen Wiley Dunn Terry; Sister, Ruth Wiley Pelham; and brother, Olin Wiley; husband, Billy Mack Crawford.

Lula is survived by her twin sister, Laura Nell Ward; sons, Larry Ward and wife Teresa and Garry Ward and wife Sharon; stepdaughter, Cecilia Crawford; step-son, Keith Crawford; grandchildren, Chris Ward, Stephanie Ward Gibbs, Justin Ward, Angela Black and Jared Ward; step grandchildren, Deann Young and Josh Crawford and many great-grandchildren.
