Marlena Sue (Doss) McGehee

Marlena Sue McGehee, age 62 of Whitney passed away Monday, May 23, 2022, at her residence in Whitney. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 27, 2022, at Abiding Life Assembly of God in Whitney with Rev. David Owens and Rev. Marwan Beem officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney.

Marlena  was born November 23rd, 1959, in Dallas, Texas, to Bob and Edie Doss. She is the oldest of four children. She married Curtis McGehee July 23rd, 1976, in Abilene, Texas. They moved to Whitney in February 1981 and began pastoring Abiding Life Church. They had two children, Jason Lee in November 1981, and Amanda Machele in September 1985. Marlena had five grandchildren; Rylee, Levi, Leah Joy Boiles and Alyssa and John McGehee; and five grandchildren in heaven with her. 

She had many roles including Pastor’s wife, mother, bookkeeper, organizing weddings/baby showers, leading choir, playing piano at church, counselor, peacemaker, and friend to all.  Her smile and laugh were contagious.  She loved fiercely her husband, family, and church.
