Mrs. Mary Lou Harris, 91, of Irene, passed away Thursday morning, February 20, 2020, at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro. A visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Bro. Darren Heil officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery in Mertens.
She was born September 16, 1928, in Hill County, Texas, the daughter of Ernest C. and Mattie Lou Thomas Perry. She married Doyle Harris on July 23, 1947, in Goldthwaite, Texas. Mary Lou was a resident of the Irene Community for 53 years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Mertens.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother, Thomas Perry.
Mary Lou was a devoted wife, loving mother, wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her five daughters, Brenda Reid and husband, Claude, of Hillsboro, Linda Herd and husband, Joe, of Irene, Deborah Pustejovsky and husband, Roger, of Mertens, Barbara Guest of Hillsboro, and Paula Thurston and Louie of Frost; one brother and sister-in-law, Van and Melanie Perry of Mertens; one sister, Betty Northern of Lubbock; one sister-in-law, Arlene Perry of Elkhart; six grandchildren, Kevin Downey and wife, Juanita, Amy Weil and husband, Mac, Ty Herd and wife, Lara, John Guest, Cassie Pantelici and husband, Manny, and Travis Thurston; nine great-grandchildren, Joe Mac and Jake Weil, Case and Macie Pantelici, Laynie and Hagen Herd, Raelyn Cajas, Rachel Werbelow, and Renee Leanos; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, it is the family’s request for memorials to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 710 North 64th Street, Waco, TX 76710.
