Max Harris Obituary

Dr. Max Douglas Harris passed away unexpectedly October 08, 2020, at Hill Regional Hospital. Born at home January 07, 1926 in Sparta, Wisconsin to Max and Vivian Harris.

A graduate of Pillsbury Military Academy, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines during World War II serving aboard the Liberty Ships. After the war, he attended Podiatry College and married his lifetime love Barbara J. Harris on April 21, 1951. They celebrated 69 years of marriage with this passing April. Doug was a past grandmaster of the Masonic Lodge, Pocatello, ID and a member of the Elks Lodge, and Toastmasters. He also served as a Diplomat for the American Academy of Podiatric Surgeons of America.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his beloved two brothers and a sister. Surviving family includes, his wife Barbara Harris, daughters Dr. Barbara Harris and partner Ralph T. Norvell, Patricia Rodgers  and husband Randy Rodgers, grandsons Jacob Mannis and wife Ruth Mannis, and Colby Rodgers, and four great-grandchildren Haven Mannis, Cozette Mannis, Aidan Harris, and Abigail Mannis as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Doug was a longtime member in good standing of the Lake Whitney AA Group, celebrating 37 years of continuous sobriety. In retirement, he had a passion for stained glass artistry and the outdoors, spending his time enjoying the lake. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make donations to your charity of choice.
