Mildred Louise (Nortman) Burt

Mildred Louise Nortman Burt, age 84, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 6pm-8pm, Friday, August 18, 2023, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Pastor Darrel Phillips officiating.

Mildred was born December 28, 1938, in Pilot Point, Texas to Anton, “Tony” and Christine Nortman. She graduated as Salutatorian of Pilot Point High School. She worked as a bank teller for many years in Itasca and Rio Vista, Texas. She was a long-time member of the Methodist Church and held many positions on the local and district level. She loved playing Bunco and Forty-Two with friends and volunteering at the Hillsboro Hospital. She was a good cook and a great mother.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Rowland M. Burt; parents, Tony and Christine Nortman; sisters Mary Ann Adcock, Janice Holley and Phyllis Billmeier; and brothers Dennis Nortman, LeeRoy Nortman and Charlie Nortman.

Survivors include son, Paul Burt (Teresa Burt); daughter Dede Burt (Paul Fain); grandchildren Sarah and Marshall Smith, Garrett Burt, Jeffie Poole (Ryan Poole); great-children, Gunner Strauss, Ace Heath and Nix Poole; sisters, Doris Short and Della Turner (Bob Middlebrooks); sisters-in-law, Micky Nortman, Fay Nortman, Mary Sue Kendall and brother-in-law Jeff Burt; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
