Nathaniel Neil Callaway (Nate), at the age of 20,  passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas at Harris Methodist. He was loved by so many and will be truly missed. A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Nate was born December 20, 2002, in Waco, Texas to William Jay and Misti Jeanne (Watson) Callaway. Nate was full of life and energy. So much that he could hardly be still. He lived with passion and drive in everything he did. Nate pursued excellence. He was a great son, brother, and friend. He loved so deeply and had such a compassion for everyone less fortunate. He was always sharing his money and would do anything to stop and help someone.

Nate was also a fierce competitor in baseball, basketball, golf, and in absolutely anything he did, he wanted to make a competition out of it. He had a beautiful smile that could light up a room and was a very funny and witty guy, always ready with a quick comeback. Nate also had a quick hug that was full and warm. Nate graduated from Whitney High School in 2021, and he was currently a sophomore at Texas A&M. He was so very proud to be an Aggie. Nate had been invited to join a Kappa Sigma Fraternity where he met some of the best friends and had the most wonderful times.

Nate enjoyed a blessed childhood, traveling and playing baseball with his friends and doing the things he loved, such as working on the farm with his Pappaw. By his side, he always had his constant companion and best friend in life - his brother Zach, who meant everything to him . Nate loved the mountains and loved going every chance he had. Hiking and fly fishing was a passion. He was a talented, giving, loving young man who has gone too soon.

Nate is survived by his parents and brother,  Jay, Misti, and Zach Callaway of Whitney; Grandparents, Billy Tom and Marilyn Callaway of Whitney, Barry Watson of Whitney, and Melaney O’Neil - Harris and husband Jay of Whitney; great grandmothers, Raydell O’Neil and Laura Nell Ward both of Whitney; aunts and uncles, Amy and Donovan Leech, Mindy and Scott Estill, and Tessa and Scott Shambaugh; cousins, Kelsey Cleere and husband Austin, Ashton Leech, Colby and Keegan Estill, Kate, Holland, and Marley Shambaugh. Many friends, coaches, teammates, fraternity brothers, and his girlfriend, Ashley Beardmore from Cypress, Texas.

Pallbearers: Zach Callaway, Brock Brunett, Marshall Ku, Drew Rogers, Levi Whitehead, and Jaxon Montgomery. Honorary Pallbearers: Tanner Sledge, Keegan Estill, Ashton Leech, Colby Estill, Devin Wilson, Kolby Tanner and Jared Ivers.

In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Whitney Church of Christ in honor of Nate Callaway, P.O. Box 621 Whitney, Texas. Nate had such a huge heart for kids not as blessed as he was and always wanted to help them have good clothes and shoes. He helped his mom shop for this program at this church once and it was such a joyful experience for him. Nate would love continuing this.
