Richard Allen Lund died peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 26, 2023. Dick was 87 years old and had been suffering from lung cancer. He was affectionately known as “Red” in his youth, where he grew up in the farming community of Homer, Nebraska. Dick’s father was a farmer and his mother was a school teacher. After graduating from high school, Dick joined the Air Force, achieving the rank of Airman II at discharge. Dick was a long-haul truck-driver for many, many years before trying his hand at farming and being a feed salesman. He enjoyed dancing, stock car racing, bowling, playing cards and pool, and traveling as a full-time RVer for a number of years after retiring from KraftHeinz. Dick especially enjoyed taking all the grandkids fishing in their youth. Dick was a part-time Wal-Mart greeter in retirement and enjoyed taking trips with their senior group of friends around the country.
Dick is being cremated and will be laid to rest at the Whitney Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at Marshall & Marshall Funeral, 201 N Bosque St. in Whitney Texas on Friday, September 1st at 6 pm.
