Robert Edward Comer, Sr. 78 of Whitney passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors chapel in Whitney. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory in Hillsboro. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday November 29, 2022, at the funeral home

Robert was born on July 8, 1944 in Waynesboro, Virginia to Robert Clayton Comer and Alice Claire Eppard-Comer He graduated in 1961 from Wilson Memorial High School in -Fisherman, Virginia, After graduating high school, he worked various construction jobs, and relocated to Florida where he worked on the launch pad installation at Cape Canaveral. He eventually worked several gigs and found his way to the great state of Arkansas where he met the love of his life in North Little Rock. He married Norma Jean Davidson on September 26, 1964. They travelled from Omaha, Nebraska and Selma, Alabama during his time with Peter Kiewit Construction. He left Peter Kiewit and joined Clearwater Construction and the family relocated to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1977. The family made their final move to Whitney, Texas in 1978 as Bob joined Hensel Phelps Construction Inc. where he was placed as the project superintendent in charge of the building of the Aquilla Dam. Throughout his 50 years in the construction business, Bob served as project superintendent in charge of the downtown Riverwalk reconstruction in San Antonio, the Dart Rail project in downtown Dallas, and the airplane hangar installation in White Sands Missile range in New Mexico. He also served as project superintendent on renovations at DFW airport in Dallas as well as other projects throughout the country. He was the recipient of several company safety awards for supervising several thousand-man hours accident free. Bob retired in 2011 from the construction business to focus on family and grandkids.

The Comer family were longtime residents of the Oak Hill Loop neighborhood, and he was loved by his neighbors, family and friends. Bob wore many hats throughout the years, but being a husband, father and grandfather, he was most proud of. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing in addition to being a huge NASCAR fan. Chase Elliott was his favorite driver as he always looked forward to race day. He never missed watching his Dallas Cowboys play. He also enjoyed his Alaska tv shows and HGTV. He was a master landscaper and always took pride in his yard. Bob was also a dog dad and doted on his chocolate lab, Mattie who was always by his side.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Norma Davidson-Comer; his parents, Robert Clayton Comer and Alice Claire Eppard-Comer; his sisters, Nancy and Harryette Patrick.

Robert is survived by his children: daughters, Kimberly Comer of Stephenville, Texas and Melonie Comer-West and husband Bill from Whitney; son, Rob Comer from Pensacola, Florida; grandchildren, Will West of Stephenville, Kanen West of Whitney, Chris Moss and fiancé Hannah Richardson of Waco; and great grandson Casen Moss of Waco; his best friend of almost 40 years, Keith Crawford from Ecuador; his sister, Charlotte Dison of Kingsport, Tennessee; and multiple nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations can be accepted to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children Hospital and Shriner's Hospital for Children.
